MADHAVRAO - the all capital but not bold, slick wooden font in the front, with the mildly lit up back ground of two storeys, looks absolute classy - a statement in itself depicting the classy ambience one is about to experience upon entering this amazing restaurant - MADHAVRAO - offering authentic Marathi cuisine in the heart of Gujarat.
The interior of both the floors is done very tastefully which takes you back into time with rich heavy wooden furniture, a prominent wooden stair case leading up to the first floor, the antique fashioned glass covers of the lamps - हंड्या & the chandelier - झुंबर - and of course a very spacious seating of more than 125 people spread over ground & first floor, giving space & privacy to each table - reminding you of the पेशवाई थाट & establishes that पेशवाई connection with the name - MADHAVRAO. In this superb peshwai style interior, the modern comforts & amenities are taken care of, without disturbing the look & balance. The look & ambience enhances your expectations about the cuisine, you are about to savour.
And it does deliver & delivers it to the T - going beyond expectations.
It is said that you can enjoy food with all your five senses. MADHAVRAO ensures this fully.
It starts with the sight - every food item being served in the old styled metal dishes, looking authentic every single bit - be it the classic Mumbai street food - the perfectly fried बटाटेवडा or the कोल्हापुरी मिसळ with delicious red curry emitting heat merely from its sight or the Home made type crispy light थालीपीठ, the yummy looking heap of झुणका & the super soft भाकरी layered with delicious ghee, the tasty accompanying drinks like पियुष, सोलकढी or ताक & the grand culmination in the form of wonderful desserts like the yummy मोहनथाळ cooked in desi ghee as well as the ultimate combination of मालपुआ & रबडी.
The aroma of the different yummy food items filling the nostrils & igniting that hunger fire in your belly.
The light crackle of the थालीपीठ declaring its super light crispy texture serving to your hearing senses.
The pleasure of picking all these things with your hands & experiencing the textural tasty stuff.
And above all, the very delicious, very yummy, very authentic taste dancing on your palate & giving you that wonderful satisfaction of having delicious delicious food , satisfying your taste buds & making the experience complete.
From the menu card, only a few items have been sampled and the rest like भाजाणीचे वडे, वांग्याचे काप, भात, सोलकढी, बटाटा भाजी, उपासाचं थालीपीठ and of course the peshwai special श्रीखंडे पुरी बटाट्याची भाजी are yet to be tasted & are calling us for another visit to this wonderful place - as a happy foodie & a regular client, once the place starts operating commercially.
The crowning glory is the fact that a मराठी माणूस has ventured into a territory which does not see many of marathi people & has made the entry with grandeur.
Hats off to the efforts put in by Chaitanya for so much of detailing & for realising his dream & making it become reality.
There can't be a gift better than the name MADHAVRAO - being displayed so elegantly at one of the best locations of the city, that a son can give to his father.
Thank you MADHAVRAO, Sushma vahini, Jasmine & of course Chaitanya and all the very best to you.
May MADHAVRAO attain the same glory, fame & status on the canvas of Ahmedabad food world, the way Peshwe MADHAVRAO attained in the Maratha empire.
